Notification center and activity feed along the right or left-hand side, top or bottom of screen (like facebook does). there tends to be plenty of real-estate on the right side of the screen. Users and agents should be able to specify if they want emails for notifications or if they want them in the notification center only. Everything should be in the application by default, and the individual should be able to select what notifications ALSO go to email.
