Customisable screen refresh time for task/call lists by user

Some users are having trouble working through lists. They complete a call or task from a list and the screen refreshes and they lose their place. Would it be possible to allow them to suspend updates for a period of time allowing them to go onto the next one. Or could they suspend updates until they are ready to have the screen refresh.
