1) A variable to insert the current users name like in windows %username%. Would be very useful so a shared saved search would be relevant for all analysts without the need to customise for each.

2) A date variable like Today() or NOW() or GETDATE() would be used in saved advanced searched to filter on a dynamics dates, like to hide calls that have a reminder date until such time as they are required. could also consider using Week() or Month() to manage calls due in particular period to help prioritise.
