Date Field needs to be updated

The current Date Field on SSP has free text for day and year and dropdowns for month, needs to be configurable and modernised as to what is displayed.

    I have always through it was a very odd way to input a date field. It would be great if this was updated to something more user friendly.

    Seconded - The ability to default to display 'Today' would also be great, rather than having to make the field blank by default and mandatory for completion.
