While vFire already allows a contributor to be notified if an article is flagged for review, it would also be handy to have a feature which allows for contributors/teams to be notified if an article has been deleted or expired (either automatically or manually).

If implemented, I'd suggest that the last 'History' remark saved at the time of expiration/deletion be visible in the e-mail, so facilitate feedback and further conversation if need be.
