Restore Disabled Account Back to Previous Status

We have staff who go on leave throughout the year. When they go on leave their account is disabled. When they return the account is re-enabled. When MS graph resyncs the enabled account it does not restore their previous Self Service Portal Role back to "User." Instead it sets the role as unassigned which means the user can't access the Self Service Portal. We have to manually go in and update their Self Service Portal role when they return from leave.
