There is an inconsistency in how CIs are added to records.
As examples:
When linking CIs to a request or calls, you need to type the CI text into the "Linked CIs" field and then select an entry. But only one (i.e., not multiples).
When linking CIs to contracts, Service Bundle, Software Product and Knowledge article, you can click on the "Add" button and it brings up the CMDB Item Search page (which you can select multiple items).
This feature suggestion is to bring the ability to add CIs to Requests and Calls in the same way as other areas of ASM.
